Why a kitchen cannot be priced from one photograph alone
Two kitchens with a similar number of doors can involve different amounts of work. Tall pantry fronts, profiled doors, exposed ends, tight returns and damaged edges all affect the preparation and installation plan. The finish reference and its layout also influence material use.
An initial photo review helps identify questions. A final quote needs an agreed scope and any further assessment required for your surfaces. We do not publish a blanket per-door rate because it could leave out the work your kitchen actually needs.
The main factors in a kitchen cabinet wrapping price
Ask how each of these is reflected in the proposal rather than comparing only the total.
- Coverage: door and drawer fronts, pantry fronts, visible end panels, plinths and other agreed surfaces.
- Condition: sound laminate or coating, adhesive compatibility, damaged edges and repairs required before film.
- Profiles and edges: flat fronts and simple returns differ from routed profiles or complex details.
- Finish: the selected film, grain direction, pattern alignment and efficient material layout.
- Installation: removal or refitting where agreed, hardware, access, protection and work sequencing.
- Travel and logistics: the site location, parking, stairs and any special access arrangements.
What to send for an initial assessment
Send a full view of each run of cabinetry, a count of doors and drawers, approximate dimensions and close-ups of edges or damage. Include your Auckland suburb and the finish direction you like. If you are unsure of the material or condition, say so; a photograph can start the conversation without deciding suitability.
We respond within one business day. The next step may be more photographs, a conversation about samples or a site assessment, depending on what the images show.
How to compare wrapping and resurfacing quotes
Kitchen resurfacing is a broad description. It may mean wrapping, repainting or replacing fronts. Ask which treatment is actually proposed and compare the same coverage, preparation, finish and exclusions.
Confirm whether GST is included, what happens if unsuitable surfaces are discovered and which care and warranty conditions apply. Cabinet interiors, door backs, handles, hinges, benchtops, splashbacks and repairs should never be assumed to be included.
When a different investment makes more sense
Wrapping can be considered when the layout works and the underlying cabinetry is suitable. It does not correct swelling, failing structure, poor storage or an awkward layout. Repair or replacement may be the better route for those issues.
A lower headline price is only useful if the proposed treatment is appropriate for the surface. We discuss suitability before confirming a finish or installation plan.
