What architectural decorative film does
Architectural film changes the decorative surface of a suitable existing element. It can be considered for cabinetry, wardrobes, interior doors, furniture and commercial joinery. It does not provide structural repair or turn the substrate into solid stone, timber or metal.
Cover Styl and New Zealand supplier PSP publish finish and product information. VERRANO uses the selected reference and project conditions to assess suitability; a general range description is not approval for every application.
Choose a finish family before a product code
Wood-look finishes can change the warmth and grain direction of large fronts. Solid colours can connect cabinetry with an existing room palette. Stone- and mineral-inspired finishes can create a different visual character on suitable counters or panels.
Cover Styl also publishes other finish families. Availability in New Zealand and special-order lead times depend on the reference, so we confirm the selected product before a proposal or order is finalised.
- Wood-look: review grain scale and orientation over tall doors and adjacent panels.
- Colour: compare the sample beside flooring, walls and benchtops in the room’s light.
- Stone-look: consider the pattern, joins and scale over the actual frontage.
Physical samples are part of the decision
Screens are useful for shortlisting. A physical sample shows the colour, texture and sheen more clearly in your own light. View it vertically or horizontally according to the intended surface, alongside materials that will remain.
Agree the exact reference rather than a general name such as “oak” or “warm white”. A sample helps define the finish direction; the existing surface still needs a separate suitability assessment.
Preparation, edges and compatibility matter
We consider whether the existing surface is sound, cleanable and compatible with the specified film. Profiles, returns, corners and adjacent surfaces affect how the application is planned. Existing imperfections may remain visible unless addressed.
Tell us about loose laminate, moisture damage, previous coatings or difficult edges. These may require further assessment, preparation, repair or another treatment. Benchtops, splashbacks and areas exposed to heat or water are not automatically part of a cabinet-wrapping scope.
Care and warranty belong to the specific product
Use the care information for the selected reference. We discuss applicable material conditions and workmanship terms in the written proposal. A supplier warranty statement should not be treated as a blanket guarantee for every surface or installation.
Start with photographs, your Auckland suburb and a finish direction. We respond within one business day and help define the next assessment and sample-selection steps.
